Privacy Policy

Bashmo (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you use Bashmo, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. If we change it in a way that matters, we will post the new version here and update the date above.

1. What information do we collect?

  • Your account. Your email address, which is your account (there is no password), and the name you give us. If you sign in with Google, we receive the email address and the name on your Google account.
  • Your answers. The text of the answers you write or say. When you speak, your browser turns your voice into text and we receive only the text, never the audio. To do that, your browser may send the audio to its own speech service; in Chrome that is usually Google’s speech service.
  • Your resume and job descriptions. A resume you upload (PDF, Word or text) is read on arrival and kept as text, with the file’s name; the file itself is not stored. Job descriptions are kept as you paste them.
  • Your practice. Your scores, the coach’s notes, your stories, your mock interviews and your settings.
  • Messages you send. Send feedback sends your message, the page you were on, basic device information (browser, screen size, language), a short note on the page’s state (which screen, ids, recent errors; never the text of an answer or a draft) and a screenshot or two if you add them. When the app hits an error, it sends the same note on its own, at most five times a page load. The contact form sends your message and the reply address you leave, if any. They land in our inbox. A copy of each message you write is also sent to us by email; the app’s automatic error reports are not.
  • How you use Bashmo. Which screens and steps you reach (a door opened, an answer started or sent, how long it took, a score’s range), never what you type; and a log of page visits: the page, the page you came from, the time, and the network address, browser, language and time zone your request came with, plus your email while you are signed in.

2. How do we use your information?

  • To score your answers and coach you. Bashmo’s AI model reads your answers, your resume and the job descriptions you add to score each answer, write the questions your interviewer is likely to ask, keep notes about you and coach you on those questions.
  • To plan your practice and show your progress.
  • To sign you in, and to send practice reminders if you turn them on.
  • To fix problems and see where people get stuck.
  • To prevent abuse, such as limiting how many free question sets one network address can start in a day.

3. How do we share your information?

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for ads. We share it only:

  • When you choose to. A challenge link carries the question, your score on it and the name you give; a practice partner sees your first name and how many times you practiced this week; and a sentence you write for others when you record an offer can appear on our home page with your first name, only if you tick “May we show it, first name only”. Other users never see your answers.
  • With companies that run parts of Bashmo for us, such as Microsoft Azure, which hosts Bashmo and stores your data, and Brevo, which sends our email.
  • When the law requires it, such as to answer a court order.
  • If Bashmo is sold or merged: your information may move with it.

4. How do we protect your information?

  • Everything you send travels encrypted (HTTPS), to Bashmo and to Bashmo’s AI model.
  • Your data is stored encrypted on Microsoft Azure in the United States.
  • Our pages run no third-party scripts: no outside analytics, tracking or ad pixels, and no third-party cookies. Their security policy allows none.
  • We can open an account read-only, answers included: to fix a problem you report, and only then.

5. What are your rights?

You can, at any time:

  • Get a copy of your data. Settings › Your data › Download my data gives you what you wrote and what Bashmo told you, as one file.
  • Correct it. Change your name in Settings › You, and replace or remove your resume in Settings › Your resume. Removing it deletes the stored copy and the questions built from it; your answers and past coaching conversations keep what they said.
  • Delete it. Delete your account (section 8).
  • Stop practice reminders (section 7).
  • Ask us anything else about your data (section 11).

6. Cookies

We set only our own cookies, and no one else’s:

  • Sign-in: keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
  • Time zone: so your days and your practice reminders follow your calendar.
  • Try card: carries your free set through signing in from the try card, for one day.
  • Google sign-in: lasts ten minutes while you sign in with Google.

The try card also keeps your set, your scores and your draft in this browser’s own storage for seven days.

We don’t track you across other websites. Bashmo collects the same information whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

7. Email from Bashmo

Practice reminders mail is off until you turn it on. An account opened from the end of the try card, which offers tomorrow’s question by mail, starts with it on, at the hour picked there (8am unless another is picked). An account already in use before this rule came in kept the setting it had: on, unless it was turned off.

When it is on, it is at most one mail a day, at 8am, noon or 7pm on your calendar. Change the time or turn it off any time in Settings › Practice; every reminder also carries an unsubscribe link.

Otherwise we only mail you the sign-in links you ask for. No marketing mail. Mail comes from login@bashmo.com, sent through Brevo.

8. Deleting your account

Settings › Your data › Delete my account removes your positions, interviews, answers, resume, stories, mocks, notes and scores, and stops the mail. It can’t be undone.

Answers you score on the try card without an account are deleted after seven days on their own.

9. Children

Bashmo is for people 16 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 16 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. How long do we keep your information?

  • Your account’s answers, scores, notes, resume and the rest: until you delete them or your account.
  • Answers on the try card without an account: seven days.
  • Messages you send: 180 days.
  • The log of page visits: 180 days.
  • Usage events: under a pseudonym, not your email, until you delete your account; the try card’s under a pseudonym made from your network address, with no end date.
  • Our server’s own logs, which name your email address when they record what they do for you (a sign-in link sent, a message to the coach, an error): 30 days.

11. Contact us

Questions about this policy or your data: use Contact at the bottom of this page, or Send feedback in the app’s account menu. Both come straight to our inbox.
